LNE promotes French presence in Qatar by supporting local metrology laboratories - May 2008
LNE and the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QGOSM) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of testing and metrology. The agreement was signed on 27 March.
Under this MoU, and in coordination with EADS and the local French Institute of Welding (IS), LNE will provide QGOSM with assistance and support in the development of a quality infrastructure for testing and calibration. In particular LNE undertakes to contribute to:
- setting up a training centre for the technical staff of testing laboratories and providing the centre with experts in testing and metrology
- helping QGOSM to obtain international accreditation for its testing and calibration laboratories
- establishing an R&D unit in the fields of testing and metrology
- coordinating the calibration of testing and inspection equipment in Qatari laboratories.
This MoU underlines LNE's key role as a partner for French companies intending to export products from Qatar, as the Laboratory is making a major contribution to the local quality infrastructure they will rely on in the future.
