Calibration of angle or angle standard measurement instruments

Calibrating your measurement devices enables connecting them to the international system of units, while ensuring the traceability of your measurements. This approach serves to satisfy the requirements of your quality assurance protocol. The scope of our COFRAC accreditation equips us to determine the accuracy of your angle measurement instruments.

Proposed calibration services

Calibrations performed by direct comparison to our LNE angular reference plate

The method employed by LNE is intended to provide for the calibration of physical angle measurement standards at the best levels of uncertainty (0.1 sec. angle (k=2)). These standards may be of several types:

  • the angles produced from dividing the circle, like standard angle blocks, regular or irregular N-faced optical polygons, continuous or indexing plates;
  • the angles identified by length variation: angle option of laser interferometers, 1- or 2-axis self-collimating glasses;
  • angular coders: angular measurement systems with bearings, for coupling with a separated shaft, at a level of precision better than ± 5″ and featuring over 10,000 markings (ROD series manufactured by Heidenhain).

Calibrations performed by comparison to angles generated by a sine table, a divider plate or a rotary indexer

  • Calibration of electronic inclinometers:

Determination of the indication error at 10 points on the angular plate.
Measurement range: upon request.
Optimal measurement uncertainty: 6" to 1.6'.

  • Calibration of angular plates:

Determination of the plate indication error in comparison with a rotary indexer.
Optimal measurement uncertainty: 2.5 to 6" (k=2).

  • Calibration of electronic levels:

Determination of the indication error in accordance with Standard NF E 11-302 (06/1984).
Measurement range: upon request.
Optimal uncertainty: 6 µm/m for a resolution of 1 µm/m (k=2).

  • Calibration of bubble levels:

Determination of the phial accuracy error in accordance with Standard NF E 11-301 (06/1984).
Measurement range: upon request.
Optimal uncertainty: 8 µm/m for a resolution of 10 µm/m (k=2).

  • Calibration of protractors (excluded from COFRAC accreditation):

Determination of the accuracy error through comparison with angles generated by a sine table.
Optimal uncertainty: 1’ + q (resolution) (k=2).

Additional services

Depending on the instrument, possibility of drawing up a verification certificate based on the relevant standard or client specifications.
