LNE designated notified body under the RED Directive

LNE has now been designated as a notified body to assess the conformity of radio equipment with the essential requirements of European Directive 2014/53/EU, known as the RED (Radio Equipment Directive), covering cybersecurity in particular, which is mandatory from August 2025.

The aim of this directive is to harmonise the regulations of the Member States of the European Union to enable the free movement of radio equipment. It covers

  • Personal health and safety
  • Electromagnetic compatibility
  • Efficient use of the radio spectrum
  • Specific essential requirements, including cyber security

Radio frequency and cyber security testing

LNE's radio frequency test laboratory enables manufacturers of radio communication transmitting or receiving equipment to obtain a type examination certificate and a conformity test report demonstrating compliance with the 4 essential requirements of Article 3 of the Directive, including radio frequencies and cybersecurity.
