Drones: Regulations Applicable from 1 January 2026
As of 1 January 2026, the mandatory application of European Regulations 2019/945 and 2020/1058 will come into force for all manufacturers, importers, and distributors of drones marketed in Europe.
Safety, cybersecurity, noise levels...
These regulations impose strict compliance requirements, particularly regarding safety, cybersecurity, technical performance, and noise levels.
Drones will now be required to include a declaration of their noise level, as specified in the regulations. This requirement aims to better manage noise pollution, a growing concern for the integration of drones into both urban and natural environments.
Since compliance with the requirements of these two regulations will be mandatory for any product placed on the European market from 1 January 2026, it is essential to begin the necessary technical and documentation processes now. These include:
- Measuring noise levels according to the specified methods
- Indicating the acoustic power level in the EU Declaration of Conformity
- Providing clear labelling for end users
