On 31 January 2025, the National Institute for AI Evaluation and Security (INESIA) was officially inaugurated. This french institute is dedicated to ensuring national security in the AI domain and fostering public trust, which is fundamental to the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence across society. INESIA brings together four key french entities: ANSSI, INRIA, PEReN, and LNE.
Specialising in AI metrology for more than 15 years and with more than 1,500 evaluations carried out on different types of AI systems in language processing, image processing or robotics, LNE is one of the leading national players, along with the ANSSI[1], Inria[2] and PEReN[3], grouped within INESIA.
Inaugurated by Clara Chappaz, Secretary of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, supported by France2030 and led by the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security and the Directorate General for Enterprise (DGE), INESIA is structured around three essential missions :
With the creation of INESIA, France joins the network of 10 AI Safety Institutes around the world such as the USA, Kenya, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and the United Kingdom to promote safety, inclusivity and trust in AI.
By structuring French research in AI assessment, the creation of INESIA is a decisive step in placing France among the world leaders in AI and providing the ecosystem with pragmatic responses to their challenges.
Consult our pages dedicated to Artificial Intelligence to discover the solutions and facilities available at LNE to meet the new challenges introduced by the AI Act.
As a player in INESIA, LNE is fulfilling its historical vocation: to support innovation while protecting citizens.
