Since 1 January 2021, some products previously subject to CE marking must obtain UKCA marking in order to be marketed in the UK. To help you market your products on the GB market, the LNE group issues the UKCA mark for a wide range of products.

UKCA marking

The UKCA mark allows products to be sold on the GB market (England, Wales and Scotland) but cannot be used for products placed on the Northern Ireland market. Indeed, from 1 January 2021, the European regulation on CE marking no longer applies in the UK. However, CE marked products can continue to be placed on the GB market indefinitely if featured in the above list. Currently for construction products , CE Marking is recognised until 30 June 2025.

CE Marking continues to be recognised for the following areas:

Toys • Pyrotechnics • Recreational craft and personal watercraft • Simple pressure vessels • Electromagnetic compatibility • Non-automatic weighing instruments • Measuring instruments • Measuring container bottles • Lifts • Equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX) • Radio equipment • Pressure equipment • Personal protective equipment (PPE) • Gas appliances • Machinery • Equipment for use outdoors • Aerosols • Low voltage electrical equipment

In the UK, the European regulation is replaced by a UK regulation which provides for the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking. This marking applies to most products previously subject to CE marking. The technical requirements that will have to be met - and the conformity assessment procedures and standards that can be used - are currently largely the same as for CE marking. Where the conformity assessment procedures require the involvement of an assessment body, this must be established in the UK and approved by the UK authorities.

Note that the UKCA marking is not recognised on the EU market where products must bear the CE marking to be sold.
